Hi all, my boiler was leaking carbon monoxide last week and they have disconnected it, i have 3 children aged 6 4 and 2 years, the landlord has still not put a new boiler in. He is looking for the cheapest one.

What are my rights for this, can I refuse to give him rent for the days that ive stayed without heating and hot water? so far it is 7 days,

Thanks

Check out the "shelter" website - there is information on the procedure for witholding rent in leiu of payment of repairs if your LL is being too slow. Before going down this route though, I would see CAB as if you dont follow the proper procedures he can evict you.

Unfortunately, I dont think you are entitled to withold rent just for the days you havent had heating and hot water.
