Jury duty

I've been called for jury duty in Feb (Sheriff Court) and informed my HR dept/boss today. I was asked if I'd be able to defer on the basis of being pregnant.

Firstly, I have had jury duty deferred twice and I was bf on demand, so don't know how they would be about deferring a second time.

Also, I presume I'd need some kind of certificate from my Dr to say I wasn't medically fit to attend. If that is the case, surely they would expect me to be unable to work as well? I wouldn't have an issue doing this if there was a medical reason, but don't feel comfortable lying about it to get the necessary paperwork.

Lastly, I don't really want to be hounded whilst I'm on mat leave this time and I think they'd just keep calling me. Doing it in Feb would actually be the most convenient thing for me.

Just to confirm, my work has not asked me to lie in order to obtain a Drs cert, they have just suggested that I might be able to get out of it purely on the basis of being pregnant. From what I've read, I don't think this is the case and think I'd have to have a genuine medical reason not to attend. I'll be 26 wks btw.

Sorry, just re-read my post and there is a typo.

I've had jury service deferred twice, not once.

go to the GP, lay it on thick, come out with letter saying you cant do it on medical grounds, easy, unless you want or feel able to do it, go and do it.
