I posted before re buying the headlease from our landlord (who is not the freeholder).- seems straightforward enough transaction but the pressure is on us to decide and my solicitor has mentioned she'd look into merging the headlease (as 0 ground rent an 999 years from 2001) with my current lease which is low and specifies current ground rent and managing agent payment schedules.
Is this an easy thing to do? I'm up to speed with the costs of the transaction and the lawyers costs but if I buy this headlease (rather than extend my current lease) will there be further costs down the line ie issues with merging two leases and having to get freeholder involved with unspecified costs - as if so - the deal on offer might not be such a good deal.
I just feel that we're being offered something that is part one of a process and there is a part two (merging leases) that is unknown territory for us!
