I understand I may have had a ton of backlash on my previous post.
Ive decided not to move.
But now I have another dilemma. I need opinions.
My ex husband and I have been divorced since 3/13/18.
In the divorce decree it says that he is to pay $420 a month for both of my boys (13yrs and 16yrs old).
By calculation, he has paid one month of that since our divorce.
So for 85 months, I have not received a thing.
He is in their lives and we have 50/50 custody but they live with me and have lived with me since we divorced.
He is on his 3rd marriage. He has a good job and his wife is an RN.
We get along for the most part and his wife gets along with me well.
But I do struggle financially. Is it worth going after? I feel like this will lose the good coparenting strategy we have.

Are you in the UK? The reference to $420 and the format you have used for the date suggest not. If you are not, you are unlikely to get good advice on here as most posters are from the UK.

So you don’t have 50/50 custody if they live with you? Does he refuse to see them?

He sees them a couple of times a week. And every other weekend. But they live with me.

That’s not 50/50

Coconutter24 · 25/07/2026 23:20

You have an enforceable court order that he has neglected, why haven’t you taken him court before now or even brought this up with him? 50/50 isn’t a reason to not pay because the split you say you both have isn’t 50/50

I’m afraid that most posters on here are from the UK, so unlikely to be able to help with specifics as it looks like you’re abroad.

Theunamedcat · 25/07/2026 23:48

Can you go for enforcement?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 25/07/2026 23:50

What country are you in?

stargirl27 · 26/07/2026 20:20

If you are in England or Wales the CMS has jurisdiction now, not the court, since your order was made more than a year ago. Apply to the CMS directly. If you have 50/50 shared care maintenance usually isn’t payable unless you are providing substantially more care.

There are 195 countries in the world, all with their own legal system.

I would have thought being clear about that is in OP's interest but no, OP ignores the numerous requests for clarity.
