Sorry but this may be long to include all details.
My husband went to hire a car and declared no points on his licence, when we arrived he was told he had 6 points, he was baffled so they printed it out for him, it said that he had them due to not informing them who was driving the car at the time of the offence and was also fined £610! It happened on boxing day 3 years ago, never been out in the car on any boxing day! We contacted North Yorkshire police as it said this was who attended the offence, they had NO record of it in his name so we contacted North Yorkshire magistrates Court as they issued the charges and fine, again they had NO record of him! We contacted DVLA who basically said we had to take it up with the magistrates court as they only issue the points. We are going round in circles and getting nowhere.
We have no idea what the offence was or how they got our registration no. as no one seems to know.
The police found details of a previous speeding fine a few years earlier for which he accepted and paid the fine but nothing for this alleged incident. Please could anyone advise?
