Legal Aid Divorce Solicitor for Domestic Abuse

Will shortly commence divorce proceedings. I had a bad experience with a local legal aid solicitor who clearly doesn’t like doing legal aid work. It dented my confidence even further.

Can I go to any legal aid solicitor anywhere in the country, or do they need to be local enough for me to go in person?

Recommendations welcome. I’m in Wales.

I have two degrees including a quasi legal degree, so I’m quite capable of understanding/contributing to the process, but the abuse has really flattened me and I need someone supportive.

You need to instruct someone local. they won't want to have to travel to a court local to you, and you won't want to travel half way round the country to attend court.

Thanks, that’s what I was wondering.

How did you get on @LavenderFieldds ?

if you don’t mind me asking, how did you even find a legal aid solicitor in the first place? The law society pages are showing zero within the max searchable radius. Also a DA situation so in theory, should qualify for legal aid as don’t meet the income threshold.
