Name changed.
Practising solicitor.
Reported to SRA by employer and also self reported. Several weeks ago. Have heard nothing. Do I chase?

Sorry OP, but if you are remotely engaged with the legal press you would know that it will take months for the SRA to do anything at all and probably years before you have a resolution. It will likely be hanging over you for a very long time. Hope you are ok.

Very engaged and aware of delays :)

I would have at least expected some contact or confirmation that I was under investigation after 14 weeks.

Have they acknowledged your report? Unfortunately, the SRA are a total shambles, and up to their necks in dealing with disasters like Axion Ince. I self-reported in January (this was a few years ago, but I can't imagine they're any better now) and heard nothing of any consequence until the following December.

My firm submitted the report. I haven’t heard if it’s been acknowledged. It’s been silence. I’m not expecting resolution this quickly, but just confirmation it’s being investigated. Perhaps it’s too soon even for that?

They work massively behind I'm afraid. We’ve had contact with them on issues and they can take months to respond to us, though they then give us 7 days to respond to them!

I'm a solicitor too, an ex-colleague of mine had to self-report (she is still practicing but the incident that led to her self-report meant she was fired for gross misconduct). SRA have cleared her but it took around 2 years, I think it was several weeks/months after the self-report that they contacted her.

Just wanted to update in case anyone in a similar situation. The SRA took exactly 4 months to confirm they have closed their file, with no action. Heard nothing at all other than that, so quite a wait.

I was reported and it took them 5 months to contact me. This was an ex making malicious complaints and they closed after another 3. SRA lady was lovely tho

a clients ex reported me and they contacted me within a week and closed within 24 hours of me contact g them. It was nonsense tho
