Mistake on council issued parking ticket

Please give me your insights.

I received a parking ticket on a Sunday for parking somewhere I was not aware was prohibited on a Sunday. Ok. However, the paring ticket has the car registration wrong. I have checked and that registration plate is not registered, so they will have nowhere to send any letters to. Of course, they can look at their own photos and see they have that wrong.

Can anyone tell me whether what it says on the internet is right and I have luckily found a way to not have to pay?!

Contact them saying you were issued a ticket for a vehicle registration that isn’t your vehicle or one you have ever owned previously. Unlikely they can reissue and at least advantage is there is no other owner who will be chased if the registration doesn’t exist on an active vehicle.

They have to issue the ticket and any updates on the proceedings to the registered owner. I'd read the MSE Forum parking threads before doing anything.

Well i presume they could then check photo/footage of the correct details and still fine?

I appealed a ticket recently (on very good grounds) but one letter of my reg was also wrong. They allowed the appeal but did not say why. I’d definitely appeal.

I appealed one where the reg number on the ticket was wrong by one letter, I just said that it wasn't my reg number and they cancelled it.

Yes if they made an error on the ticket then they can’t enforce it. Lucky escape for you!
