Abel associates

Received a genuine looking letter about a distant relative death they gave detail of other family members and my relation to them and ask to get in touch as they didn’t have a will and I may be a beneficiary. The company looks legit but I’m not sure if it’s a scam. The company have a website and it’s a Rayleigh address with a Basildon number. Anyone heard of them?

After a search on the SRA website, I would say they’re not legit

Since Abel Associates are not solicitors and do not claim to be, I am not sure how a search of the SRA website is relevant.

I can't find any reviews of them online, but Companies House shows that they have been trading since 2010. They are a small business with one director who also owns the company. It appears that they specialise in tracing missing beneficiaries, including possible beneficiaries from intestacy.

I cannot say for sure, but they appear to be legitimate. If they were scammers, I would not have expected them to last 15 years as a registered company.
