Reporting revenge porn threats

Does anyone know what the police are likely to do about a 17yo boy threatening a 16yo girl with sharing her nudes if she doesn’t send more? He’s being really nasty and harassing her, threatening to send them to her family, etc.. I know it’s a crime but as he’s a minor will they let him off with a warning or are they likely to take it quite seriously? Just want to be prepared for what might happen.

They will take it extremely seriously

This is something I would expect the police to take very seriously. He is under 18 but that is not especially relevant. The fact your DD is under age makes this potentially very serious. They won’t fob you off.

Thank you both. It’s not my DD but a friend of my child’s who confided in me for help. She was wanting to know what might happen when she reports it. I’ve reassured her that they will take it seriously and not just let him off with a slap on the wrist warning. Here’s hoping…
