Partner- attendence at 12 wk scan

Is my partners work / employer, / boss able to stop him attending a 12 wk scan?

Acas site says something about can attend 2 antenatal appts unpaid (?)

Fathers and partners now have the right to take unpaid time off work to accompany expectant mothers to up to 2 antenatal appointments.

He may face a battle. There have been several instances on here where women have been refused time off to attend antenatal appointments despite this having been a legal right since 1996. I'm sure some employers aren't aware that partners have the right to take unpaid time off to attend two antenatal appointments.
