Pre-charge Police Bail Query

I was recently made aware that my ExH and the father of my child had been arrested over a month ago for a serious offence and was under pre-charge bail conditions. As the information came from a third party I submitted a request under the relevant ‘law’ and the police contacted me the next day to confirm the arrest and that his bail conditions did not allow unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Our child is 10, my ex hasn’t mentioned being arrested at all and has been asking to see them since (this hasn’t happened). He doesn’t know that I know about it.

I’m concerned that this occurred over a month ago and that his bail conditions weren’t communicated to me (for the purpose of safeguarding my child) by anyone. He isn’t very involved but we have nothing formal in place to say that he doesn’t see them. I understand that confidentiality will have played a part, but I’m upset that I could have unknowingly put my child at risk.

Could anyone advise if this is standard procedure in these cases or if the police/MASH/social services should have reached out? I did ask the officer who contacted me but couldn’t get a straight answer from them.

Not sure how the police would have known he has a child and ex partner at the time.

The conditions are for your ex to follow so if he had contact with your child that would have been a breach.

Lukily that did not happen. Perhaps contact the police and see if they knew of your child’s existence?
