I know someone who is on the sex offenders register and on life licence for basically sleeping with their underage step daughter, they are now seeing a childminder who has 6 children, said childminder isn't aware of sex offenders past other than he's been in prison for what childminder thinks was "alleged " rape!!! Sex offender isn't allowed around any children under 18 unless obviously it's in a shop or somewhere it can't be helped! They have met the childminders children and obviously childminder isn't aware of the full situation. Every time I try to speak about it sex offender shuts down and won't talk about it. I'm seriously thinking of going to the police what would you do?

Yes I would definitely contact the police. if I was in your position and something happened to those children I would never forgive myself

Hi, I would call the police and notify them. There will be conditions in place that they need to monitor. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, you have vital knowledge that needs to be shared. At least then the information will be out in the open.

Of course you go to the police. Why on earth wouldn’t you?

And he raped his step daughter, he didn’t ’sleep with’ her.

Hodgemollar · 27/07/2025 07:07

Of course you should go to the police. I can’t imagine a situation where you could convince yourself otherwise.

BreezyPeachGoose · 27/07/2025 07:12

As above - go see the Police and document their crime reference number.

You should have been already to the Police.
Children are in danger.

Bluebluetuesday · 27/07/2025 07:22

Fucking hell, you seriously need to ask whether you should go to the police and notify them that a child rapist is in a relationship with a woman with 6 children?!?

sex offenders register and on life licence for basically sleeping with their underage ...

I am assuming you know that there mush have been a lot more going on if he was given a whole life tarriff?

But yes police and tell the childminder and as she is aware he has a rape offence Ofsted too.

You can explain to her that she can make a Clare's law request too.

I agree, “slept with his daughter” is a fucking wild phrase.

WaltzingWaters · 27/07/2025 07:52

Police immediately.

NeedyExpert · 27/07/2025 07:57

Shouldn't even need to ask the question on here....protect the children and report him immediately! You have all the info you need xx

Look up the term LADO: it’s a safeguarding role designed to protect children from people working on positions of power. I would contact your local LADO as well as the police and possibly OFSTED.
