Overlooked for promotion because pregnant

Ok, so I have just been made redundant, store is closing and the offered job is impractical for me (travel, childcare). Which is fine, and all agreed and accepted.
However, during my employment with the company, I was overlooked for a promotion, and whilst the interviews where taking place, on my shift, infront of me, my store manager said, as a joke "if you didnt go amd get yourself pregnant, you would get the job".
At the time, I laughed it off with another staff member, but definitely should of handled it differently.
Im on mat leave right now, ends in 2 weeks, had my first meeting today, and I brought it up, should I take it further? I even ended up training the person who got the job... have I left it too late? Im really quite angry about it, but it was in June last year...

The manager will deny it. How would you prove it? Did you apply for the job? If not, there’s no knowing what might have happened. They were not going to just give it to you so why did you not apply?

Were you superior in terms of qualifications and experience to the person who did get the job? Personally I’d take the redundancy and get another job. How much head space do you have for this?

Did you even apply for the job OP?

The time limit for raising a discrimination claim is 3 months. I assume we’re past 3 months now, if this was before your mat leave, and you’re now just coming to the end of your mat leave.

Edit: sorry didn’t see that you said June last year. Yes too late.

Did you apply for it? Did the person who ended up doing the job?
