Settlement Payment Structure

Hi, does anyone have any experience of settlement payments being made over two tax years so that it is more tax efficient? One of the issues here is the next tax year is quite far out but would result in a much more favourable net pay especially if it takes a long time to secure a new role

Where I work they wouldn't do it as they want the money off the books in the company financial year you are made redundant. They dont want any more dragging over to the next financial year.

No advantage to employer and don't think it would be legally sound until payment in full.

Yes I can’t see many employers agreeing to that.
are there other ways to be more tax efficient? At a previous employer, anything over the £30k threshold could be paid into the employees pension, would something like that be worth asking about?
