Birth Certificate - Marriage Query

Hi,

Hoping someone might know the answer as I can't find much online...

I gave birth to my baby boy last week and need to book an appointment with my local council to register his birth. His dad and I got married back in 2023 but I never got round to formally/legally changing my name so on my passport, bills, bank account etc I am still known by my maiden name.

It's one of those jobs I kept putting off and vowed to get sorted whilst on maternity leave!!

However, I've just had the realisation that this might be a problem on his birth certificate as I would like to put my married name down on his certificate so we all have the same name as we are married. Does anyone know if bringing my marriage certificate along will be sufficient proof for them to put me down under my married name or will I have to be put down as my maiden name?

TIA :)

Doesn't your Maiden name have to be on your child's birth certificate regardless?

It’s your maiden name they use

Admittedly my youngest is 12, but their birth certs say my married name with a separate box for my maiden nam... have they changed?

EtA... at the time f DD1 birth my official ID was still in maiden name.
