Hi, I’ve been told I will receive a death in service payment which is separate from deceased’s estate.
I assume I have to declare its receipt somewhere, but where? Do Icontact HMRC when it comes or wait for them to contact me?
My bank details have been taken, will the bank query it when received? I’m sure these are naive questions, but have never been in this position!
Thanks.

Death in service benefits that are not part of the deceased's estate are not taxable. You do not have to declare it.
