Help - Splitting a House when not Married

Posting for a friend - her long term partner with whom she co-owns a house has just been charged with possessing indecent images of children.

She had no knowledge of it and is appalled. She wants out of his life immediately, but has almost no savings. They co-own a house with a mortgage - he put in more than her, she just wants her share back and to move on.

How does she go about doing this, and where does she stand legally if he refuses to buy her out (unlikely as he’s unemployed) or sell up?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

She needs to consult a solicitor. If he is not willing to sell, she will need to go to court to force a sale.

If they hold as joint tenants it doesn’t matter that he put in more than her. She gets half on sale. This is something she needs to have checked when she gets legal advice.
