Passport and name change

I am in the process of renewing my passport, it is over a decade out of dates, so I thought I'd do it since I'm doing other related admin.
My old passport was issued before my current marriage. I was divorced at the time. I also changed my first name before my old passport, I have since changed my first name again. As you can imagine my passport renewal is quite complex.
However I thought that my out of date passport, had my maiden name and old first name, so all I have to provide is my marriage certificate, change of name deed poll (changed first name) and proof of my use of name, which was my council tax bill. But no, apparently I may have to prove every single change from birth certificate, up to the current date, even though all this was checked when my old passport was issued.
However the deed poll with name change and my old marriage certificate are lost, I have ordered a copy of my old marriage certificate, so,that is fine. But how do prove a historic name change. Can I use the free deed poll website thing to generate a deed poll for that time?

I think when I did my deed poll there was an option to pay a bit extra to store a copy so you could order a replacement if lost. You’d have to check with wherever you did it. Otherwise you might just have to get a new one.

e.g. www.deedpoll.org.uk/apply-for-a-copy-of-your-archived-deed-poll/

Guidance if you didn’t have it archived:

It was never enrolled. Hence I'm wondering if I can just do another deed poll.

I think the free deed poll is a current thing, not backdated, ie I am changing from this to that today. You could give it a go though, obviously it’s free so no harm done. I would print out a few though, just in case.

Too late now, but the whole thing is free.

But you know for if anyone asks you how to do it in the future!

@ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself thanks. Depends which option you go for. If you want it on public record it costs.

They are essentially asking you for the “audit trail”
of the name changes. You cannot do another deed poll now for an old change you have since changes again, you can only do another deed poll now for a new change. So it was the most recent name
change it was for then you might be able to do a fresh one (although its not quite that straightforward) but you can’t for a historic change and its my understanding from your post that that’s what we’re dealing with.

As for how to rectify the situation, that will down to the passport office. Call / email them to explain the situation and get their guidance.

Well according to guidance here

www.gov.uk/government/publications/names-evidence-to-change-a-name/names-evidence-to-change-a-name-accessible
Since my passport is a renewal, I shouldn't have to even provide the trail. Obviously all evidence has previously been checked. I have queried it now, so I'll wait to hear back
