Ombudsman

Hi, does anyone know the answer to the following:
so a solicitor has offered me a financial settlement for failures. It doesn’t cover half my expenses for putting the matter right and I was really conscious of keeping costs down at every point. If I escalate to ombudsman, is there ever a risk the ombudsman recommends less? Will the ombudsman at least match the solicitor’s offer?
wondering if a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Thanks

They could award less, yes. But in my case I was awarded 4x the solicitors offer.

It took the ombudsman a year to make a final decision though due to their huge backlog. So it won’t be a quick process if you need the money back urgently, but if you’re in financial hardship you can ask to expedite it.

Thank you for your reply. It's heartening to know you had a positive experience. It has been a real eye opener for me. The world of law is a really shady place with many unscrupulous characters. The regulator sets such a low bar that many act as they like without impunity. They are given licence to do so. I hope I never have cause to deal with solicitors ever again.
