Lost Probate forms

Has anyone been in this situation and can suggest what might happen?

Probate form, original will, cheque etc sent to probate dept via Royal Mail, sent Tracked and Signed for.

they have been (supposedly) delivered to Harlow sorting office and are ‘out for delivery today’ however it’s been saying that since 2/4.

if they have been lost what the hell happens? It was the original will, which they insist on, no copies, and I’m really not sure what else I could have done?

help!

Chill. That's only 4 or 5 working days.

Assume you took copies of the will before you sent it?

I did, however the probate forms state absolutely specifically it has to be the original will.

Yes, of course, I’ll just chill, I mean dealing with a siblings sudden death and all that entails? Why on earth would I be getting stressed? 🙄

If the will has gone missing you can use a copy. You use form PA13 and submit that with a copy of the will if you have to apply for probate again.

have you contacted the probate office? I find the Mails tracking is very glitchy

Thank you, I will look into this.

That's so stressful, I hope they show as delivered soon. I find the post takes ages these days but maybe it's due to Brexit (we're in NI)

I found the people at the end of the phone on the probate helpline very helpful indeed when helping my (overwhelmed with grief) dad sorted out probate for my mum. It did take 50 minutes on hold to be connected, so prepare to be patient. You'll need to be named on the paperwork to be given any info, but it sounds like you are. Am sure if you call and explain, they'll be able to find out where things are up to.
