Conveyancin̈g id checks

I'm starting the process of selling a house, my solicitor has sent through a link from Thirdfort to carry out electronic id checks. Has anyone got any experience of using this or similar checks, is this usual practice now. I'm concerned about potential identity fraud. 20 years ago when I last sold we just visited the solicitor and handed over the documents, thanks.

They do further checks to make sure you are who you say you are - it increase security.

Thanks, is it a safe site. I just worry that they might bet hacked and all your personal information is out there.

It’s completely normal. All solicitors have to do it to open a file for you.

When I bought I ended up doing this two or three times because of the different people involved.

Thirdfort is fine, very secure

Solicitors are required to do this by the money laundering regulations. As others say, it is completely normal. If you want to sell your house, you will have to do this whichever solicitor you use.

Thank you everyone, I'll give it a try tomorrow and fingers crossed I do it right.

Yes normal and secure. Extra protection for the solicitors.
