Hello. I was wondering if someone has any advice for me please. My daughters father was stopped by police with no tax, insurance or MOT on his car. My daughter was also not in a car seat. I have asked her father to prove:- 1- He still has a licence.
2- He has an appropriate car seat for daughter
3- His car is fully insured. Mot & tax.
Her father has said he is happy to provide proof he has a car seat for her. However he said he doesn't see why he has to provide personal details regarding his car or licence.
Can someone please advise me. Will the courts take what I am asking for seriously and see it as a reasonable request. Will he be asked to provide this information?
Or has he every right to refuse? This is a massive issue for me and I feel as a mother I should know my daughter is in a safe car when travelling. Sorry for the long post. But this is a big issue for me. We are due back at court in May. Contact is currently taking place at contact center for now. Thank you.

You can check his car is taxed and has a valid MOT easily online.

If you suspect he is driving without a license, call the police.

Last year I did call the police on him and he was stopped. However I don't know the outcome of this and I think he may have lost his licence now? But he won't admit this? So I am unsure if the court will accept me asking for this or not? This is also one of the many reason why contact was stopped.

Start by getting the proof he has no MOT https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status

Then write to him post and email setting out you are not prepared to let your child in a car without an MOT and don't hand over child until that happens and if that means you need to vary a court order about contact then apply to court.

Check the MOT status of a vehicle

Find out the MOT test status of a vehicle - check the date of the MOT test and the expiry date of an MOT test pass.
