To start I am a student for context, who lived in a house share with 3 other students last year. The tenancy ended in July and we were sent the deposit claims by the lettings agent in September - the landlord wants the whole deposit. We're happy to pay for some of it but wanted to reduce some other charges. We sent a couple of emails back and forth with clarifying questions and they said they'd get back to us but never did.
In December I opened the repayment request with the DPS and put in the amount we were happy to pay and put the other charges at £0 because the lettings agent hadn't provided the additional info. The lettings agent then replied this week (over a month later) with some more vague information and asked for our dispute details via email.
We'd rather just let the DPS adjudication handle it at this point - can someone explain the process? On the website I'm looking at this guide but we've not even been contacted about evidence nor can I see anywhere to upload it even though 14 days has passed. Does the landlord have to reject our repayment request and then the 14 days starts? If anyone could explain what happens next or what we should do that would be so helpful. Thanks!
