Rogue roofer - small claims worthwhile?

A roofer did some work for me firstly a year ago - which seemed ok - and secondly last October (a different area). Four different leak sites in total. He gave seven year guarantees for his work.

The October work didn't last beyond the next heavy rainfall. I have been contacting him persistently over the last six weeks and he's given me excuses, or said he'll come round and not turned up.

Searches online (belatedly) show that this isn't a one off and that others have had the same problem.

I am still hoping that he will come and fix what he has done. If he doesn't ... how long is reasonable to wait - and is it worth going the small claims route? Value of October work was £650 but I'm also having doubts about the first work which was £1,000.

You have waited long enough already. You need to send a letter for action.

Unless you can show that the first work was faulty, it is unlikely you will be able to claim for that.

@prh47bridge thank you for your reply. I have messages going back to November saying the leak is still there - I suppose that's just my opinion.

If I showed another roofer the work that has been done and they agreed it hadn't been - would that prove it? It's the course taken by another dissatisfied customer on an online review.

Oh sorry - the first work. Yes, agreed, I'll have to write that off. Thank you.
