boiler company incompetence

we had a boiler replaced other day. The company we chose know that we have an elderly woman, 80 and 2 young children, so one of the criteria for selecting a company was that we would get hot water and heating on replacement of our old but working boiler. We were assured this would happen. It didn’t. The engineer arrived 2 hours late, went out for 2 hour lunch. Engineer later said said we would have to wait till tomorrow for hot water and heating as it would take another hour to fully install. It was ~4pm, I insisted politely that it should be done as promised. It is December and my mother has a health condition, that will be exacerbated with the coldness. He never sympathised and left. So I booked the cheapest close hotel to us for her and my two young children, where they stayed for a night the next day the engineer arrived ~ hour late and got the job done, however the wall. wall paper, and floor were accidentally damaged by the engineer. The engineer would only tell us to complain to the company if we wanted to, in carefree manner. I have emailed them and told them about the damages that i need to be made good and hotel stay for my mother and kids as compensation before I finalise bill. They have refused compensation for hotel stay but said one of their engineers (I think decorator should be sent?) Will come out to make the damaged wall and floor ‘good.’ I know the only way to make the floor as it was before is if they buy the exact same plank of LVT and install. I had already paid half for the boiler and they require the other half payment now. What would you do if you were in this situation?. When the initial half was paid I gave them my cc number verbally so would they still have it and just withdraw from my card? A I can cancel the card. Should I give one last chance to the boiler company before escalating to https://www.utilitiesadr.co.uk/how-to-complain-about/home-services/
Advice appreciated

Bit of grey wood filler for the floor, they'll fix the walls, buy an electric heater for future use and stop being so disagreeable.

the company actually withdrew the other half from my debit card. yesterday, meaning they still have a copy of my verbally given card details. cancel it right?
