Hit car in car park

6 replies

I hit a car in a car park last night. I feel terrible and did try to track the owner down but to no avail. No damage to my car but damage to theirs

I have left a note with my details but I'm worried about it possibly getting wet and the owner not getting it. I left my details with the local church (closest public building to the car park). I have reported it to my insurance and online to the police. Is there anything else I need to do?

I feel absolutely awful. I've damaged my car before by reversing into a tree and hitting my own wall but never hit anyone else's, just feel dreadful about it all.

I think you’ve done all you can.

although if this is the 3rd time you’ve hit a stationary object I think you ought to find a driving instructor and get more lessons or change your car!

It was an accident and you've taken responsibility as best you can. Nothing more you can do.

Try to calm down a bit x

To be fair, this may have happened over a long period of time. I've probably had similar statistics but I've been driving over 30 years

@aodirjjd

In fairness it's over a long period of time and when I hit the tree I was hugely stressed. I'm not convinced I actually hit the wall, I think my ex did and just made me think it was me.

Thanks all. I just feel there is more I should be doing but realisically I know there is little more I can do. Noone has contacted me yet but I guess not everyone uses their car daily.

If I haven't heard over the weekend should I drive back down and see if the vehicle is still there and leave another note? I know this car park is sometimes used by residents as there is little parking and its free.

You’ve done what you needed to do. If they want to make a claim they will and your insurance will advise you of that.

there isn’t anything else you can do. What was the other car? If it was old and battered and the damage was superficial they might not be bothered about it.

also don’t beat yourself up we all have accidents. I bumped mine into some framework around a post in a car park. I was forward parking and could the post but I couldn’t see the framework. I cracked the bumper. I don’t even bother repairing it because I hated the car!
