Court trials question

I’ve watched a few American courtroom dramas, usually on Netflix!

I noticed the lawyers, DAs etc turn up at court laden with multiple boxes of files. I wonder if now laptops, tablets etc are a common household item they will no longer have to bring all this paraphernalia and it’s just electronic?
another thing I noticed is how many jurors chew gum! I thought maybe this is a way of keeping your mouth from getting dry as opposed to drinking water which would lead to multiple pee breaks needed?!
Any experts out there?

Court papers are all electronically held nowadays although lawyers may still use handwritten notes. Juries are however still given paper binders of evidence which have to be physically brought to court.

I have never seen a juror chewing gum.
