Hi there I was wondering if anyone had applied for a cica claim recently, online it says waiting time around 12-18 months has anyone had a payment sooner. CICA have had police report and medical report how long after that do you hear back. Thanks ☺️

I've been waiting since 29th March 2023. Apparently it's still "awaiting assessment by our casework team"...

Thank you for your reply much appreciated. Oh ok long process then I called them the other day and they said they are awaiting for someone to look at my medical now. It would have been originally fast tracked but because of mental injury they said it wouldn’t be fast tracked and they can’t say how long it will take 🤷‍♀️. So I take it could be a year or so thanks again xx

Sorry if you don’t mind me asking is your claim pretty straightforward ,did you have all the information they needed and police report quickly if that’s what was needed.I applied in August had police report and medical straight away. Sorry to ask x I no loss of earnings it says can take longer but not applying for that xx thanks

This is what happens when they talk about reducing the amount of civil servants.

There is a cost to the public in waiting time when there aren't enough staff around to process benefits payments or criminal injury claims etc.

Staff leave and don't get replaced, the remaining ones get worn out trying to get through things and provide a good service, and go off sick, leaving fewer staff to deal with the work, and so it goes on.

Sorry you're having to wait. That sucks.

@Kittycatty2024 I know the police supplied information because the officer in charge mentioned it to me when we were both testifying in court.

My claim was for rape and sexual assault. I didn't apply for loss of earnings. There are police records although no prosecution (well, not for that) and in fact it was the police who suggested I claim as they felt I had enough evidence, I hadn't heard of CICA until then. There are no medical records other than my PTSD diagnosis. The perpetrator is now on the sex offenders register but not for what he did to me. I think it's pretty straightforward but it is taking ages.

A family member claimed for ABH in January of this year and is also still waiting. Again, police records all provided but still waiting.

thank you for your reply much appreciated sounds exactly the same as mine what I claiming for doesn’t sound very promising then to get an offer soon 😢maybe a year or two. I read online 2024 they have got more staff and do it quicker but doesn’t seem like it if you have been waiting that long. When was the last time you contacted them I read another lady said hers was lost in the system and had to do it again but gave her a lump some to make up for it to apologies if you haven’t checked recently maybe give them a call to check. I hope you get an offer soon I don’t understand how it can take that long when they have all the information. Thanks 🥰

I last heard from them in October, with the same "update" as June, ie that it was awaiting assessment by their casework team.

Natsmith18 · 21/01/2025 19:29

Hello I made a claim in August and heard in September from them to send my marriage certificate but heard nothing since not even to say they received it. I’ve tried phoning but can never get through. Have you heard anything yet? X

sunshineandrain82 · 24/01/2025 20:35

It took a while for me.
We had a police conviction and prison sentence.
CICA still tried to say it didn't happen and not pay out.

I ended up appealing. It took around 4 years

Despuddy999 · 31/03/2025 15:36

I put a claim in back in 2022 July as my ex attempted to murder me and got an offer 14th March 2025. Takes time just waiting for payment now but it even with all evidence, doctors notes etc took me personally nearly 3 years x
