Burden attached to land

Anyone know the significance if any if someone was entitled to a sum of money within 5 years and this was registered as a burden to some land and although the money was eventually paid to the person it was decades later and not within that 5 year period. TIA

I assume this is Scotland? Without knowing the context, if the burden has been discharged and is no longer on the deed then there’s no significance: the person owed the money would have been entitled to take legal action to recover it once the five years had elapsed, but may have chosen not to do so and to wait. You need a solicitor to review things properly if this is land you’re selling if buying and the deed is ambiguous.
