Trigger warning

I have a r**pe trial upcoming in the next few months against my ex husband and I'm absolutely terrified about having to stand and give evidence. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of what kind of things I'll be asked by his solicitor? I've never been through a trial before so I've no idea what to expect.. it's really affecting me I'm not sleeping I can't leave the house and I'm having flashbacks and panic attacks constantly.

I don’t have any personal experience but could you contact victim support? There is quite a lot of info online as well regarding court as a vulnerable witness if you google it.
hope it turns out ok for you.

I'm sorry you are going through this.

I don't have any experience to share but I'm bumping this for you.

Wishing you all the best Flowers

Thank you for your kind words. I'm absolutely terrified and my mental health is really bad just now too which isn't helping.

I am so sorry this happened to you and that you are having to go through this but you are being so brave, reporting it must have been very difficult.
I am not sure but I think there are things that can be put in place for Rape survivors so please speak to victim support or the Police Officer who is working on your case

I don't have direct experience to share but I do know that if it's going to trial, the prosecutor must feel there's a fairly strong case - too many rape cases never even make it to court. I would 100% expect the prosecutor to work with you becuase it is in their interest for you to be able to testify well as that means more liklihood of a conviction. Can you contact them or your police contact and ask for some info on what the preparation process is and how you can be protected in court?

Please discuss this with your witness care officer, they will be able to offer reassurance and advice on what to expect. There will be a very strong prospect of conviction for the case to have got to trial. You are incredibly strong, reach out, help is available.

Also, speak to your GP to see if they could give you something to help you sleep, and help with the panic attacks.
