So a flight was delayed from Hamburg to Zurich, meaning the connection back to London was missed. Customer service were no help so hotel had to be booked and paid for. Eurowings have (after taking months to reply) said that they'll pay the standard €250 compensation but not the hotel on top of that as they have "set off" these costs against the compensation. Is this legal? The EU regulations are so vague I can't work it out, but was under the impression they had to pay both compensation AND costs incurred. Thanks!
