Overhead cable - permissions ?

A friend lives in a road that is being setup for new broadband (on poles !). Just got back from a nice cuppa and I noticed one of the cables runs right over her front lawn. She noticed too, but was told "the council said it was OK" which strikes me as a little odd ? It's about 15ft high.

Crucially, could it be used for a free washing line 😀

Are the poles in her garden or just the wire over-flying?

Either way I think a wayleave should be in place (and Openreach's site suggests that this should be the case).

Just the wires (or whatever). Looks like all the poles are on the pavement. She lives on a bend which may explain it. All the poles are on one side of the road, so without the bend would be daisy chained together over the public highway. It's just to get around the bend it has to cut the corner so to speak.

This isn't BT - it's a new outfit. She can be a bit scatty, so it's possible a letter was missed.

In the scale of things it's z bit fat zero. But the excitement of a few beefy men in hi-viz may have been a distraction.

Thanks for the steer. I'll have a shufty.

At the end of our terrace an overhead cable leaves the rear of one property and goes about 40 feet over the adjoining garden and then the neighbours. Which I kind of get from a wiring perspective. We have cables for other houses adhered to our wooden fascias, it's a horrible jumble of wires out there and I get palpitations thinking about it. I'd rather a high flying cable I think. Your mind blanks out cables, start looking about they are everywhere, crossing front and also back gardens. It took open reach three visits and pavement digs to try and cable up next door, they totally botched the cabling and left a loop to snag out on the sidewalk, and have left what looks like a trail of chaos caused by a tar mole.
