Hello,

I’m seeking advice regarding a complaint I have against a solicitor. I engaged them to draft deeds of beneficial interest for me, but they only completed part of the work. I eventually had to hire another solicitor to finish the job. Throughout the process, which dragged on for 10-11 months, I made it very clear what I needed, but the solicitor never clarified my requirements and numerous issues arose along the way.

After I submitted my complaint, the solicitor claimed that they had sent me a letter by mail outlining their services. However, I never received this letter, and there was no follow-up or mention of it in any of our communications during those 10-11 months. This feels like a fabrication of evidence since there’s no record of me acknowledging the letter.

Now, I’ve been offered £250 as a resolution, with the implication that if I don’t accept it, the case will go to the Ombudsman. Has anyone had experience with the Ombudsman in such situations? Is it worthwhile for me to escalate the case?
