Can anyone help with Spanish law?

My DD was sexually assaulted whilst on holiday in Spain. We already have UK police involved but they cannot advise on what the Spanish police will do and we need to make certain decisions so I thought I'd try Mumsnet in the meantime.

DD has complex additional needs so we are trying not to put her through unnecessary stress and due to her needs there is a limit to what she can cope with.

Does anyone know how they collect their evidence in Spain and if they would accept the evidence collected by UK police? The UK police want to do an interview but are unsure if the Spanish police will accept that or want a further written statement or interview.

Does anyone know where I can find out the likely outcome/punishment if any to the crime?

Also if it was in the UK the interview would be played in court if it went that far and DD would have to answer minimal questions and could do so via a link, does anyone know if Spain has similar abilities as she would not cope being a witness in court at all, we will be lucky if she can cope with a through interview as it is.

I'm worried that it may not be in DD's best interests to continue depending on what is expected of her. The person who committed the crime was an employee with access to children but was immediately sacked from the hotel.

I can’t advise on Spanish law but it would be worth getting in touch with the British embassy/consulate as this is something they should be able to support you with. I hope your daughter is ok and that the scumbag gets what’s coming to him.

@Scramblelina thank you, I didn't even think of them, I will phone them tomorrow.

She is doing ok and I really hope so too!
