Probate processing times

Hi
Probate was applied for via a solicitor on 28 May and next week is the 12 week mark.

Has anyone had a recent experience of probate processing times? I am hoping to complete on a house purchase in September and am getting worried..

Many thanks
Claire

We sent a probate application in June and received the grant 3 weeks later. We did our ourselves and it was under the inheritance tax threshold, but only just.

Thanks for the reply. That was quick then! Unfortunately we did have to pay IHT

The last time I sent in probate forms (for a friend) having completed it ourselves was in January and that took 8 weeks. The Estate did have to pay a small amount of inheritance tax, which was paid quickly.

It’s been nearly 12 weeks already. It says 16 weeks online though which is depressing

Not helpful for you but straightforward online applications are back down to two weeks.

Hopefully it will come through soon.

My work colleagues mother died in November and they have only just had it granted in the last few weeks

No monies have been distributed yet

I managed to get through to the probate office and ascertained the following:

The solicitor said it was sent at the end of May but it wasn’t lodged by the probate office until the end of June.

The solicitor didn’t pay the fee so I’m not 100% sure it’s even been looked at.

What a total nightmare.
