Should I have told my landlord?

Too late now but I’m doing an end of tenancy clean wherein I’m moving out but the other two tenants are staying on for another month. It’s a joint tenancy. I stopped staying at the flat before Christmas due to conflicts re cleaning - the other two were being incredibly hypocritical about me cleaning when they’re so dirty. So I stopped living here and started staying with my partner. Then we found out a few months later (end of Jan) that I’m pregnant.

I have not stayed a night at the flat as a tenant since before Christmas. I’m worried about being responsible for deposit charges from around the flat/communal areas. I’ve cleaned my own room and going to do some cleaning in the communal areas but honestly not a lot due to being 33 weeks pregnant and feeling like the onus should more be on the other two.

Should I have told my landlord about me not staying at the flat? Would this have changed anything?

No it wouldn't and if they trash it now you are still as liable as everyone else (assuming your Tenancy agreement is standard and has no unusual clauses)

If you’re jointly on the tenancy you’re jointly responsible for the cleaning no matter that you’ve chosen not to live there, if communal areas aren’t of a good standard you’ll be charged for a professional clean - would the others agree to paying between you for a cleaner to come & sort it?

Thanks for your advice @Changingplace @Hoppinggreen , I was worried that while talking about moving out and the deposit etc to the landlord, if I’d mentioned I haven’t lived here in passing he would maybe have held it against me in case there’s some law or something where a room can’t be vacant despite it being a joint tenancy - I will be cleaning or at least arranging cleaning for the communal areas! :)
