Unfair dismissal

Hi all,

I was dismissed from my role for gross misconduct and appealed the decision.
The decision was overturned in full at the first stage of the appeal, and they have reinstated me back into my role.
Does anyone know if I will be entitled to a monetary amount for what I have been through?
I have destroyed my credit rating, I couldn’t get another job for ages due to the nature of dismissal and I have only just found a job (I can prove I was looking as I was claiming JSA).
I almost lost my house over this, the havoc it has caused in my life is significant.
I know that I will get backpay, but surely I should be entitled to more? I worked there for 5.5 years.
TIA

So you are back in your old job now?
How long were you out of work between being dismissed and taken back?

It sounds like you've been through a horrible time.
I'm a bit confused though, you say you've been reinstated in your role, but you also say you've just found a job. So you're leaving?
I'm not great on employment law. Can you speak to ACAS? I don't know if they might have some kind of 'no harm no foul' approach to the inconvenience you faced due to their false accusation. It sounds like you definitely deserve something, from a moral perspective.
Do you have a solicitor?

Thanks for the responses!
I have technically been reinstated in my job. I started a new job 3 weeks ago, due to the nature of the job I was sacked from, I would not be able to start back until I have completed certain training ect. However, I will most definitely resign or go long term sick.
It took 6 months between losing my job and the appeal date, it took me 5 months to find a job, and I wasn’t entitled to JSA for a fair bit of those 5 months due to sanctions around being sacked and therefore being found responsible for my situation.
I have just approached a firm to ask for some advice.
