Child maintenance

Hey,

last summer my ex stopped paying child maintenance for 6 months, I finally went theough csa, everything went through and it was agreed he paid £241 a month, after a couple of months he asked if he paid me £60 a week (which if it’s a 4 week month works out the same) would I agree to this and he is paid weekly and it was easier.

I agreed aslong as it was set by a standing order, as on paper by the 1st of each month I would of had the full £241.

however since he has changed jobs again I’m constantly having to ask for the weekly amount, I get ignored, it doesn’t go in etc, so this month for June I’ve only had 2 payments from him.

does anyone know if I was to contact csa what they would say? I remember last time I spoke them they said aslong as the amount is paid by the 1st it doesn’t matter how it’s paid if we have agreed.

however I want to go back to the monthly 1st payments as it’s a constant battle and I actually feel very little every single week having to ask where this money is, I use it each week for the food shop, and when it doesn’t come im without food; when it was paid monthly I’d take the cash out and put it in a money wallet so it worked the same.

he is laughing at the fact I will now report him, but I feel like I’ve been a complete push over again with regards to csa and again let his old ways rule my life again.

just looking for some advice from people who have solely just used csa and where I stand, I knew I shouldn’t of ever agreed to the weekly payments

He is using it to control you. Financial abuse. Go through csa again and do not discuss it with him.

Going to call them tomorrow and go through collect payments, worked out the yearly amount he is meant to pay and he isn’t even on track

He's an idiot. Every payment missed when calculated by the CMS is still owed, so he is in arrears.

Ask CMS to enforce, they can take it directly out of his income - though you will pay 4% for this benefit, and he will pay 20%. Before doing it, it might be worth telling him that is what you will do if he doesn't pay up.

He just laughed when I said I’m going to report him, I agreed to let him pay the £241 over the month as a favour to him, I have to ask for it each week, and this month he has only sent £110 out of the 241 and there’s only a week left of June! Technically the £241 should of been paid 1st June so he is in arrears now. I’ve been to laid back with him and it’s started to really have its role on me arguing each week about it, and having to chase it up for days at a time
