Hello, abit of a long one but I am afraid I have been being overpaid on universal credit. For 3 years they have been paying me for being single, when my circumstances changed I did tell them twice and could they check I was being paid correctly, and it's my fault for not following it up, I had a text message last week to say I have a commitments appointment tommorow, which prompted me for the first time in around 2 years to log on to my online account (I guess I got too comfortable) and they have a new feature to see what the breakdown is you are getting paid, and I have now seen it is around 380£ a month for the last 3 years!! I am absolutely petrified and obviously I need to bring this up to them but I'm so scared something bad will happen to me, I am more than happy to pay the money back when I get a job (little one just turnt 2) .. but I don't know how to go around it what will happen to me??

If you've been overpaid all that will happen is you'll be asked to pay it back (but really if you tried to tell them twice what more can you do??) they can agree a payment plan with you. It will be OK!!
