Small court claim- protocol not followed

I am being taken to small claims court by an ex employer re a disputed overpayment. He has not issued a letter of claim - will this change the court process?

Unlikely. Courts bend over to accommodate litigants in person. If the claim has any teeth then much better to get on with settling your defence rather than trying to take procedural points.
