Jury service question

LiveLifeToTheFull2 · 03/05/2024 10:14

I've been called for jury service.
I read somewhere online that they read your full name out in court as a juror in front of the defendant?! Can anyone tell me if this is true please?
I'm already worried about the safety and security side of doing jury service ie leaving the court and being recognised etc 😒

Yes, that is true. The defendant has the right to hear the names of the jurors who are about to try them. However, names are not given to the media and cannot be publicised.

I was on jury service in February, yes it is true. Thet also read out the names of the witnesses and the defendents so the jury pool can hear then. I assume it is to make sure that the jury won't know anyone involved in the trial and vice versa.

After we were sworn in we were only referred too by our juror number by the court staff.
