GDPR / Data Protection question

WittyDreamer · 22/04/2024 23:27

Hi All - is my employer allowed to have a sales leaderboard that is distributed to the whole company which has a list of the entire sales force along with how they are performing against their individual targets? (Shown as percentage vs target)

Wouldn’t this have some potential data protection issues?

Thanks

Identifying the best performing employee may be justifiable under legitimate interests. However, a full league table allowing the worst performing employees to be identified is likely to be a breach of GDPR.

I was about to say that I don't think it's a breach, but then I read this:

www.activemind.legal/guides/publishing-employee-data/

I believe this will refer to EU GDPR so it would be worth checking if the same is true for UK GDPR, but I suspect it will be.
