Restraining order

I currently have a long term court ordered non harrasment order on an ex due to DA. This runs out in a few months. My question is - what happens after that? Do the courts contact me? Do they contact him? Or does ot just run out and that's that?

If you don't do anything, it will run out. You can apply for it to be extended provided you do so before it expires, but you will need to show that there is a continued threat from your ex, or the possibility of a continued threat, or that there have been repeated breaches of the order, or there have been new types of threat.

If the order expires, you will have to apply for a new order if you need one.

@prh47bridge thank you so much for your advice. If I apply for it to be extended will he will be informed and be able to argue for it not to be extended or would it just be extended? Thanks again for your help.

He will be informed and can oppose your application.
