Driving under section 88 & speeding ticket

Hello,

Currently waiting for the DVLA to renew a medical licence (there’s a ‘covid’ backlog still!) they’ve acknowledged the completed application form and the doctor has confirmed it’s medically okay to continue driving so currently driving under section 88.

Have just received a speeding fine.

Wondering if anyone had experience or advice about this?

Can you still do a speed awareness course if you are driving under section 88 or will it go to Court?

Thank you

So far as I can see S88 allows you to drive as normal while you wait for the licence to be re-issued.

Provided you meet the criteria for a SAC in terms of how far over the limit and not having done one too recently then you should be fine.

Either way the folks administering the process will know.

Thank you.

I know a couple of members of my family we really don’t speed as much as that sounds! have had issues when they moved and it took a while for the DVLA to sort out the address change so they ended up with a bigger fine as the police and DVLA didn’t seem to co-operate so I am a bit worried about asking them and opening up a can of worms unnecessarily.
