We live in a rented house and have lived here for quite a while. We’ve been wanting to move for a long time but have been unable to find a decent house in the area we want to move to.
We recently applied for an insulation grant. The company responded and agreed to begin installing the insulation. In the meantime we found a beautiful house in the area we’ve been wanting to move to! (It’s hard to come by in that area!)
We made plans to move but the insulation work has already begun at the current house we’re staying at. Our landlord is telling us to stay as he is worried that if we leave, he’ll have to pay for the insulation as we are no longer tenants therefore the house isn’t eligible for a grant.
Will he really have to pay if we leave?

You should speak to the installation team. You have put your landlord in a tricky situation really as I think these things are means tested .

Who signed the contract? The terms of eligibility and any conditions should be set out. How soon could you move?

@LIZS
we signed the contract.
we had planned to move before the company had begun work and wanted to contact them to let them know we’ve changed our mind but when we returned home from work they had already delivered the material to the house.
