If you raise a dispute re your bank and a company

Unfortunately paid by debit not credit card for this- question is;
Company did not provide service that I paid for so I raised a dispute with my bank who then somehow contact them.
If the company then does not respond in the 15 days or whatever the given time is, what happens?
Are the bank able to help you fight further to get your money back?
Thanks!

When you say paid by debit card, did you bank transfer or pay on chip and pin?

The process is relatively straightforward even with a debit card. You submit evidence of the transaction and evidence that goods were not delivered / service not fulfilled. The bank will usually temporarily reverse the transaction (return the money to your account) whilst they investigate. During this investigation the service provider then has a period of time to demonstrate that they did provide the service. You might be contacted again during this period for further evidence. If they can successfully show they provided the service, the reversal will be cancelled and the money taken back from your account and returned to the service provider. Otherwise, the refund will stand.

Thanks so far… not chip and pin but online purchase.
Not a physical product such as an item.
No money back so far.
Just concerned that if company don’t respond they’ll get away with it

If the company doesn’t respond then the bank will take this as their acknowledgement that the service was not provided and uphold the refund.

Thanks, I thought that may be the case. So hopefully then I automatically get the refund in the 15 days… hopefully will be automatic

You can lodge a chargeback claim with your bank.

Thanks, I wonder if that’s different to what my bank have done already or if it’s the same thing
