Took the car in for a repair last week. While doing said repair they found something wrong which they called us about then fixed, added to original quote.
Got car home. Noticed oil leak.. bad oil leak! Oil light has come on so lost over a litre of oil in 6 days
Dropped car back at garage at 8.30am. Said they'd look at it. Just called them and it's not going to be ready until at least tomorrow... queue having to arrange how I'm getting to work and the kids to school....
also, tried to get assurance it won't cost us anything... very non communal.
Any thing we can do?

the original repair and the one they found… did it have anything to do with something that could have resulted in an oil leak?

and of course they haven’t confirmed no cost until they know what’s going on!

They were meant to replace the alternator and alternator belt. They found the sump was leaking and repaired it..... now we have an oil leak

If it's leaking from there, then it's on them and should be done free.

As the previous poster says, if the oil leak is due to their repair to the sump, they must fix it for free. However, if it is a completely separate issue (e.g. a seal has failed), you will have to pay.
