executor of will - financial assets are in US!

My mother passed away very peacefully in early October. Now, after the first waves of grief and numbness have begun to recede a bit I’m struggling with the administrative jobs that come with being the executor of her will. Specifically, although she was resident here in the UK, her bank accounts are in the US. Is there anyone else who has dealt with this situation and could pass on some advice? Or practical tips, books to read (are there any?), blogs or groups where I can be in touch with other people facing this process.

A couple of legal search providers ran free webinars on US assets this year. Try Estate Research. You will have to login to their learning hub.

You can hire a solicitor to do most of the leg work for you if you don't mind paying their charges.

I checked them out - looks really useful! Many recordings to watch over the holidays now. Thank you

I should have said I’m so sorry for your loss and I hope you are ok. I’m sorry I was very tired and wanted to help but wasn’t thinking straight x

Thank you - I fully understand. I hope you are getting some rest this week. (I'm getting to the point of being OK - it is all overwhelming and draining ...)
