Has anyone done jury service before who could give me a sense of what time the jurors would be able to leave for the day? Trying to plan for the week

I've just done it and although the information pack suggested 5pm, the latest we left on any day was 4.30pm. Everything was explained by the jury managers on the Monday morning e.g. lunch was 1-2pm daily, when the canteen would be open etc.

Great thank you, I’m the only driver in the household so it’s going to cost a fortune in taxis for everyone else!

Agree. Courts usually aim to finish around 4pm for juries. I have sat until 5 many times but only after the jury have been asked whether this will cause an issue. Judges/coroner's tend to be more attentive to juror childcare commitments than those of the lawyers!

Agree. I sat as a juror on a 4 week case and we had to be there by 9am (but rarely called to Court before 10 and often slightly later) but we were mostly relieved by 4pm, 4.30 latest.

Thank you all

When I did mine, we were released by 3 or 3,30 many of the days.

It really does depend.

I did it earlier this year. I agree with others. Usually 4 pm. If you are needed beyond that all members will be asked if that is okay .

You may also find that you don't get onto a case and usually if you've not been assigned by lunchtime they let you go for the afternoon. I had eight days of arriving at 9, waiting around, almost making it onto a case, case being cancelled, etc, and only twice was I there after 1.30pm.
